Wikileaks - Good or EVIL!!!!!!!!

WikiLeaks was launched in 2006 by Julian Assange. It has recently been one of the centres of attention as it has published documents concerning America's involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. The American government are trying to bring Assange over to the USA in order to try and prosecute him. However, currently he is under house arrest in London. He is also wanted in Sweden after allegations were made against him on sexual offences.


WikiLeaks tells people what has been happening in the world by leaking documents that the government do not want to be published. Early, when it had just been started, it was accused of eavesdropping on Chinese hackers, and there have been many more complaints since.


WikiLeaks is a website all to do with freedom of speech. However, Assange explained that there was a limit to the freedom of speech, saying 'It is what regulates government and regulates law, but it is not an ultimate freedom'. The point of WikiLeaks is to say that press should not be censored by the government to the extent that it still is, but to allow documents to be published, which may be important, and to show them to the public who have the right to know.


In my opinion, WikiLeaks is a good thing because it allows the people who have a right to know, to find out what their government is hiding from people. However, I can understand that sometimes it is not always a good thing. A reason the government may not want the document to be published is that it may contain some top secret information concerning the country and it would be dangerous if people found out. I think that this is probably the main problem governments have with it.


Therefore, I think that WikiLeaks is a good thing but sometimes it is EVIL!!!
